BRIDAL STYLE: Rustic-Redefined For The Modern Bride

As a lover of the outdoors and the rough natural appeal of a rustic environment, you’d find yourself hard-pressed to find a more perfect location than the mountains of Northern California. Surrounded by breathtaking natural views in a grove of towering redwoods, Melissa and Kyle used the natural environment to elevate their idea for a rustic themed wedding to awe-inspiring proportions.

Flanked not only by their bridal party but by the redwoods themselves, M + K’s ceremony gave the impression of being blessed by the forest itself. Sticking to natural shades and limiting vibrant colors to accents, the bridal party's attire felt right at home in this rustic environment.

As guests made their way to the welcome table, the rustic theme of the day was highlighted by a design of elegant simplicity. Springing from the unhewn trunk of a tree, the polished wooden tabletop was sparsely decorated with natural materials imprinted with precious messages. Each item, while meticulously crafted, gave the impression of a masterful DIY effort by the beautiful couple.

Despite being their special day, in an act of solidarity M + K adorned their sweetheart table with the same design as that of their guest tables. Rather than going over the top, each table which stemmed from a basic wooden frame was topped with floral runners consisting of lush natural greenery, fruits, and interspersed with a mix of vibrant and neutral-colored blooms. By maintaining a coherent theme between the structures and their decorations, guests could easily lose themselves in the forest inspired rustic theme.

After dinner and before the dancing was underway, M + K took the opportunity of dessert to treat themselves to something special. In place of extravagant wedding cake, they opted for a personal wedding cake for just the two of them. Served on an engraved wooden platter, the cake cutting ceremony was treated as a special moment between the bride and groom. That’s not to say the guests lacked for anything sweet. A dessert table with various sweet treats awaited anyone with a sweet tooth and a desire for a sugar-infused burst of energy!
