THE LOVE STORY

In any great relationship, the commonalities we share and the differences we have are equally important. Where we lack, we can find strength in our partners, yet it is our common interests that bind us together. Emily and Tim, meeting as total strangers, found a piece of common ground that was enough to form the foundation of a long and powerful relationship.

Sharing a birthday in the same month, despite being 3 years and 5 days apart, Emily and Tim found themselves celebrating on the same day, at the same time, and at the exact same location. “We met at a club called Riff Raff in NYC, celebrating our birthdays. Separately of course! He texted me the next day, and the following weekend he took me to the Zac Brown Band concert at Jones Beach in NY!”

Finding they had more in common than their birth month, it wasn’t the things they were both interested in that sealed the deal, but the people. “The moment I was convinced that Tim was the one, was the moment I realized that he cared for my family just as much as I do. He was so comfortable around everyone that he even let me convince him to move into me and my younger sister’s NYC apartment!”

After 4 years together Tim and Emily took a trip away from NYC to another city that holds a special place in Tim’s heart. Living in Chicago while he played professional ice hockey, Chicago felt like home and was a place Tim frequently longed to return to. Getting his chance when he signed up for the 2018 Chicago Marathon, Emily invited all their closest family and friends to join them in the windy city.

“After the race, he arranged to meet everyone at a restaurant nearby. As we were walking out of the hotel, he asked if we could walk instead so he could stretch his legs and enjoy the city. He took us along the Chicago Riverwalk and proposed right there!”

THE PERFECT DAY

Finding the perfect moment in Chicago to propose, they returned to a familiar location in the big apple to plan their wedding. While in high school, Emily worked as a swim instructor at Coveleigh Club in Rye, NY. Located along the waterfront of Long Island Sound, Emily fell in love with the views, and when she returned with Tim as an engaged couple, they knew it was the perfect place to host their wedding.

Beautiful speeches, dancing, and a shower of love from all their guests, their perfect day was full of highlights, but the best part for Emily and Tim was the very reason they chose their venue in the first place. “The 5-10 minutes we had for the two of us, standing on the dock as newlyweds with the gorgeous waterfront view was the best!”

As a married couple, the things Emily and Tim have in common are beyond count, but as strangers with nothing in common but the celebration of their birthdays, all it took was one coincidence to begin their happily ever after.
